Obituary for Charles O. Grice
On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Charles (Chuck) Oliver Grice Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at age 68 years young. Charles was born on March 12, 1952 in Champaign, Illinois. Charles served 7 years in the U.S. Army.
Charles’s greatest passion in life centered around his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. Charles was a God-fearing Christian. He was a loving man that always welcomed everyone with open arms. He was the kind of man that was always there for others, always willing to take the shirt off his own back to help others out. Charles had a love for his family, which he had a great amount of. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Asbury Grice and Helen Bullard. He was also preceded in death by eight sisters, Helen Lucille Grice, Marie (Grice) Duvson, Marian Elizabeth Grice, Hazel Irene Grice, Barbara Jean Grice, Diana Sue (Grice) Eaton, Etta Mae (Grice) Carper, and Dorothy Louise (Grice) Cotton. Charles was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Richard (Dick) Grice, Francis (Sonny) Albert Grice, Robert (Bob) Grice Sr., Thomas (Tom) Glenn Grice, Donald (Don) Leon Grice Sr., Wilbur Grice, John Edward Grice Sr., and Thomas Glenn Grice Sr. Charles also has three grandchildren that preceded him in death, Phoenix Kabul Grice, Shaniyinaha Mae Grice, and Sunset Rose Grice.
Charles was survived by one brother, Matthew Bullard Sr. Charles was survived by his children, including Christina Atkins, Jasmine Grice-Epps, Carol Brooks, Regina Peterson, Alexandrea (Grice) Astorga, Charles Grice Jr., Susie Graves, and Elizabeth. Surviving Charles was also his grandchildren, which include Nikalas Peterson, Alyssa Peterson, Karalyn Peterson, Wesley Atkins, Ariel Atkins, Zoe Grice, Mikia Grice, Amir Grice, Wyatt Olivero, Carly Olivero, Clara Brooks, Nathaniel Atkins, Damyun Peterson, Michelle and, Briana Astorga and Uriah Marquez, Hunter Brooks, Destiny Peterson, and some other unnamed grandchildren. Charles was also survived by one great-grandchild, Briley Lopez.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Mean Mugs in Ogden, Illinois. Family and friends of Charles would love to see all those that would like to come and celebrate the life of Charles Oliver Grice.
