Obituary for Grace Viola Johnson
Grace Viola Johnson, 87, of Danville, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022, at her home.
Grace was born on August 9, 1934, in Danville, the daughter of Guy Henry and Lula Ethel (Palmer) Martin Sr. She married James L. Johnson Sr. on December 8, 1954, in Danville. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1994.
She is survived by four granddaughters- Melissa Rocha of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Alisa Rocha of Danville, Illinois, Darla (Aaron Gray) McCarty of Danville, Illinois and Karla (Steven) Acree of Bloomington, Illinois; six great-grandchildren- Gage (Alanis) Gray of Danville, Ian Beasley of Danville, Jaythan and Serenity Faber of Danville and Aryian and Carter Acree both of Bloomington; one great-great grandson- Jax Gray of Danville; and a special niece-Debbie Murray of Danville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two children- James L. Johnson Jr. and Susan Johnson, two sisters and seven brothers.
Grace worked for several years at Main Street Cleaners, in Danville and later in Westville, after they moved. She enjoyed playing bingo, getting her hair done and just spending time in her home.
According to her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and there are not any services scheduled at this time. Illiana Cremation Society is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
