Dennis Edward Shadix Sr., 64, of Gibson City, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Accolade Healthcare, in Paxton.
Dennis was born on February 25, 1958, in Roswell, New Mexico, the son of Harry and Carol (Craft) Shadix. He married Rebecca Wieborg on September 1, 1977, in Gibson City, Illinois. She survives.
He is also survived by his father- Harry Shadix of Birmingham, Alabama; two daughters- Nicole Tabor of Milton, Florida and Mindy (Bill) Comerford of Metcalf, Illinois; one son- Dennis (Leah) Shadix Jr. of Mahomet, Illinois; four grandchildren- Bailey Ferraro, Payton Scott, Connor Shadix and Lucas Shadix; two great-grandchildren- Rollins Ferraro and Romyn Ferraro; four brothers- Tim (Theresa) Shadix of Montgomery, Alabama, Doug Shadix of Gibson City, Ron Shadix of Gifford, Pat Shadix of Gibson City; six sisters- Jennie White of Tennessee, Maryann Pearson of Wisconsin, Teresa (Peanut) Shadix of Alabama, Donna (Scott) Cobb of Alabama, Grace Shadix of Alabama and Naomi Shadix of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother- Carol Burns, granddaughter- Makenna Ferraro and two best friends- Betty Mayberry and Scott Dawson.
Dennis served in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for over 30 years, for various trucking companies. Dennis also served as an ordained minister for a Pentecostal church, in Milton, Florida. He enjoyed driving a truck, fishing, camping, playing guitar and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dennis also loved his dog Precious.
According to his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and there are not any services scheduled at this time. Illiana Cremation Society is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
