We are heartbroken to announce that April Lynn Tester, 47, of Urbana passed away expectedly on Aug. 21, 2023.
Born on April 26, 1976, to Kathy Sue Tester (Wilson) and Terry Lee Tester (deceased), she was the middle child, with her eldest sister, Amy Lee Jones (Tester), at the front, and Angela Sue Dawkins-Wilson (Tester) not too long after.
April was a bright child with a love for dancing and a smile that her great-grandmother said was so pretty, it would get her into mischief. She had a passion for writing, which she passed onto her daughter, Alexas Vernon of Urbana, as well as a love for R&B soul and lyrical rap music that she passed onto her son, Denashio Tester of Chicago.
She was a cherished daughter, devoted sister, fun-loving aunt, beloved cousin, adored granddaughter and honored friend. An advocate for the mental and physical welfare of the homeless, a community mother, sister, friend and grandmother; she leaves a legacy of love behind in many hearts. A devote Christian, she rests now with her heavenly father. To have loved and been loved by her was a blessing.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at CU Church in Urbana in the Fellowship Hall. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by services at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to CU Church at cuchurch.churchcenter.com/giving.
